Psychotherapy That Meets You Where You Are

Individual, employment-focused, and group psychotherapy for adults across Ontario

Therapy does not have to look the same for everyone.

At HopeStart Mental Health, we begin with the person—their experiences, goals, strengths, challenges, and everyday life. Our approach is collaborative, adaptable, and intentionally outside the box, while remaining grounded in professional and evidence-informed psychotherapy.

Together, we create support that feels meaningful, practical, and suited to who you are—not who you are expected to be.

Virtual psychotherapy is available across Ontario. In-person availability varies by clinician and location.

Support Should Fit the Person

Some people feel most comfortable talking in a familiar therapy room. Others connect more naturally through movement, reflection, creative approaches, or conversations grounded in real-life experiences.

We do not expect you to adapt yourself to a predetermined model of care. We work with you to shape therapy around what helps you feel safe, engaged, understood, and able to move forward.

Therapy may help you:

  • Understand emotions, experiences, and recurring patterns

  • Develop practical coping and regulation strategies

  • Navigate grief, trauma, relationships, identity, or change

  • Build confidence, self-compassion, and a stronger sense of direction

  • Move beyond simply getting through the day toward a life that feels more meaningful

One-to-One Psychotherapy - Individual support shaped around you
$0.00

One-to-one psychotherapy offers a private, collaborative space to explore what is happening beneath the surface—not only the symptoms that brought you to therapy.

Your therapist will work with you to understand your experiences, identify patterns, build practical strategies, and determine what meaningful change looks like in your life. The approach may evolve over time as your needs, comfort, and goals change.

Areas we can explore together

  • Anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm

  • Depression, disconnection, or feeling stuck

  • Trauma and difficult life experiences

  • Grief, loss, and major life transitions

  • Identity, confidence, and self-esteem

  • Relationships, communication, and boundaries

  • Work-related stress and burnout

  • Emotional regulation and practical coping

  • Personal growth and greater self-understanding

You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning. Therapy can start with where you are today.

Employment-Focused Psychotherapy - Because changes in work can affect far more than work
$0.00

Employment is often closely connected to identity, confidence, routine, financial security, relationships, and a sense of purpose. Job loss, workplace conflict, burnout, disability, career disruption, or prolonged disconnection from the labour market can therefore have a significant emotional impact.

Employment-focused psychotherapy provides space to address both the practical reality of work and the emotional experiences surrounding it.

Together, we may explore:

  • Involuntary job loss or career disruption

  • Burnout and workplace stress

  • Anxiety about returning to work

  • Loss of confidence, identity, or direction

  • Grief and anger following employment changes

  • Workplace trauma, conflict, or harmful experiences

  • Adjusting to disability or changing capacity

  • Boundaries, communication, and sustainable work

  • Reconnecting with purpose and considering what comes next

This is psychotherapy, not simply career counselling or job-search assistance. The focus is on emotional wellbeing, healing, identity, coping, and the personal impact of employment experiences.

Work may be part of the conversation, but the person remains at the centre of the work.

Group Psychotherapy - Connection can be part of healing
$0.00

Group psychotherapy brings people together in a professionally facilitated space to explore shared experiences, develop insight, practise new strategies, and feel less alone.

Each group is thoughtfully designed around a particular experience or area of growth. Sessions may include facilitated conversation, therapeutic reflection, mindfulness practices, practical coping strategies, and opportunities to learn through connection with others.

You choose what you share. Participation does not require telling your full story, speaking before you feel ready, or presenting your experience in a particular way.

Running Virtually on Tuesday Evenings begining August 18, 2026 for 4 Weeks.

Healing doesn’t always end when treatment does.

For many people, the focus during cancer treatment is simply getting through it. There may be little space to process the fear, grief, uncertainty, changes in identity, or difficult medical experiences that can remain long after treatment has ended.

The Path Forward is a warm, trauma-informed psychotherapy group for adults who have completed cancer treatment and are navigating what comes next. Facilitated by a Registered Psychotherapist, the group offers a supportive space to connect with others who understand the complexities of life after cancer.

Through a supported, guided environment of therapeutic reflection, and mindfulness-based practices, participants can explore the emotional impact of their experience, develop practical coping strategies, reconnect with themselves, and strengthen resilience, self-compassion, and hope.

Topics may include grief and loss, emotional overwhelm, changes in identity and relationships, and the challenges of navigating treatment and the healthcare system.

Whether treatment ended recently or several years ago, you do not have to navigate the path forward alone.
