Cancer Survivorship Support Group
Healing Beyond Treatment
Please note, this group runs in-person in Guelph, Ontario every Tuesday evening, 6:00pm until 8:30pm, from July 28, 2026 until August 18, 2026 (inclusive). Click HERE to register.
Completing cancer treatment is often seen as the finish line—but for many survivors, it's the beginning of a new set of emotional and psychological challenges. Feelings of anxiety, uncertainty, grief, isolation, changes in identity, fear of recurrence, and difficulty adjusting to a "new normal" are common experiences that can persist long after treatment has ended.
HopeStart's Cancer Survivorship Support Group provides a safe, supportive, and professionally facilitated space for adults who have completed or are transitioning through cancer treatment. Led by Marsaye Treen, Registered Psychotherapist and HopeStart's Group Therapy Lead, this trauma-informed group offers an opportunity to connect with others who understand the unique emotional impact of cancer while developing practical tools to support healing and resilience.
Through guided discussions, evidence-based therapeutic approaches, mindfulness practices, and opportunities for shared reflection, participants will explore topics such as:
Coping with anxiety and fear of recurrence
Rebuilding confidence and identity after cancer
Managing stress, grief, and emotional overwhelm
Navigating changes in relationships and family dynamics
Processing the emotional impact of treatment
Cultivating resilience, self-compassion, and hope
Moving forward with purpose and renewed well-being
Marsaye draws on her extensive experience in trauma-informed care, attachment-focused therapy, somatic approaches, and psychodynamic psychotherapy to create a compassionate environment where participants feel safe, understood, and empowered.
Whether your treatment ended months ago or several years ago, you don't have to navigate survivorship alone. Healing extends beyond physical recovery, and emotional wellness is an important part of reclaiming your life.
This group is designed for adult cancer survivors seeking connection, understanding, and practical support in their journey toward emotional healing and lasting well-being.
