Psychotherapy Services

At HopeStart Mental Health, we offer psychotherapy services for adults seeking thoughtful, supportive, and collaborative care. Psychotherapy is provided by qualified and registered practitioners and is grounded in respect, professionalism, and ethical practice.

We recognize that people seek psychotherapy for many different reasons. Some individuals are navigating emotional distress, relationship challenges, life transitions, or the impact of past experiences. Others may be looking for a space to better understand themselves, build insight, or develop healthier ways of coping. Our role is to walk alongside you in that process.

Group Therapy

Group therapy offers a supportive and professionally facilitated environment where individuals can learn new skills, gain insight, and connect with others facing similar challenges.

Led by a licensed and registered psychotherapist, groups may focus on topics such as anxiety, stress management, emotional regulation, self-esteem, communication, workplace wellness, personal growth, and other areas of mental health and well-being.

Sessions are offered both virtually and in-person, depending on the specific group.

For current group offerings, schedules, and registration information, please visit our Calendar of Events, where upcoming topics and availability are posted throughout the year.

Psychotherapy for all

HopeStart recognizes that adults living with developmental disabilities may benefit from psychotherapy when it is offered in a way that is accessible, respectful, and responsive to individual communication styles and cognitive needs.

Psychotherapy services may be adapted to support:

  • Emotional expression and understanding

  • Processing experiences and relationships

  • Building coping strategies and emotional awareness

  • Strengthening self-advocacy and identity

Therapy is always approached with sensitivity to power, vulnerability, and consent. Where appropriate, collaboration with families or support networks may occur with informed consent and clear boundaries.

HopeStart offers multiple service streams, including non-clinical coaching, life skills supports, and employment services. While psychotherapy may exist alongside these supports, each service has a distinct role and scope.

When individuals are accessing more than one type of service, we prioritize:

  • Clear role definition

  • Informed consent

  • Ethical boundaries

  • Transparent communication

Psychotherapy remains a confidential, clinical service, while coaching and other supports are practical and non-clinical in nature.
