Completing cancer treatment is often seen as the finish line—but for many survivors, it's the beginning of a new set of emotional and psychological challenges. Led by Marsaye Treen, Registered Psychotherapist and HopeStart's Group Therapy Lead, this trauma-informed group offers an opportunity to connect with others who understand the unique emotional impact of cancer while developing practical tools to support healing and resilience.

Through guided discussions, evidence-based therapeutic approaches, mindfulness practices, and opportunities for shared reflection, participants will explore topics such as:

  • Coping with anxiety and fear of recurrence

  • Rebuilding confidence and identity after cancer

  • Managing stress, grief, and emotional overwhelm

  • Navigating changes in relationships and family dynamics

  • Processing the emotional impact of treatment

  • Cultivating resilience, self-compassion, and hope

  • Moving forward with purpose and renewed well-being

Marsaye draws on her extensive experience in trauma-informed care, attachment-focused therapy, somatic approaches, and psychodynamic psychotherapy to create a compassionate environment where participants feel safe, understood, and empowered.

Whether your treatment ended months ago or several years ago, you don't have to navigate survivorship alone. Healing extends beyond physical recovery, and emotional wellness is an important part of reclaiming your life.

This group is designed for adult cancer survivors seeking connection, understanding, and practical support in their journey toward emotional healing and lasting well-being.

Discovering that an aging parent, grandparent, or loved one has been targeted by a scam can be heartbreaking. Many families find themselves caught between wanting to protect someone they care about and watching that person become increasingly isolated, defensive, or unwilling to accept help. Led by Marsaye Treen, Registered Psychotherapist and HopeStart's Group Therapy Lead, and supported by Matthew Wadlin, Service Director and Registered Social Service Worker, this supportive group offers practical guidance, emotional support, and connection with others facing similar challenges.

Through facilitated discussion and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, participants will explore topics such as:

  • Understanding why older adults become vulnerable to scams and financial exploitation

  • Navigating difficult conversations with empathy while maintaining healthy boundaries

  • Coping with feelings of grief, anger, guilt, and helplessness

  • Rebuilding trust and preserving important family relationships

  • Responding to resistance, secrecy, and social isolation

  • Supporting a loved one while also caring for your own emotional well-being

  • Learning practical strategies and community resources to help reduce future risk

Marsaye creates a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where participants can share their experiences, gain perspective, and develop tools for navigating one of the most challenging situations families can face.

If someone you love is being scammed—or has been financially exploited—you don't have to carry the emotional burden alone. This group offers understanding, guidance, and hope for families working to protect both their loved one and their relationship with them.
